Lorraine-Dietrich’s “Nobody Likes To Listen” Is A Song Infused With The Past, Sounding Like The Future

Lorraine-Dietrich have a great future ahead of them. But let’s just settle in a bit on the present. In their tune “Nobody Likes To Listen” they deliver a wavy, brooding anti-anthem showing they’ve got classic rock musical chops.

“Nobody Likes To Listen” is a twangy, fuzzy, sultry, rock trip back to a 60’s garage sound, routed through a 2022 filter. The guys clearly understand that sometimes making a statement means pulling back. Charging vocals submit to a soft reverb guitar bridge. The drama sways. The tune builds. The message is pointed but not preachy.

For me the song is always the most important! I don’t care how heavy or soft a song is as long as it sounds good and resonates with me–that’s all that matters. I believe that heaviness is something that comes naturally and if it doesn’t it shouldn’t be forced into a song.

Peter Grebenyuk (Insta) is a captivating front man with a powerful voice and impressive guitar skills. There is just enough drone in his tone to deliver an observational lament while at the same time enough rolling melody to keep you hooked.

There’s grunge, there’s classic hard-rock, and even, dare I say it, the ambitiousness of prog. Lorraine-Dietrich are not messing around…

The 3-piece band is tight. Logan Fancolly (Bass) and Alex Brezik (Drums) match Gerenyuk’s mood up front. It’s a full sound reflecting influences from the last 50 years of rock and roll. (Check out this cover.) They are currently creating and developing their sound and a following in Kansas City. Working day jobs for cash and playing for the love of it. Rocking state fairs and living the dream.

These guys are morphing the beats, tones and atmosphere of the past into something sounding more like the future. Nobody likes to listen? Oh, yes they do. And will.
